late on a lazy evening in June
i was home to greenview avenue too soon
and rather than retire to my dim apartment
i snuck round the back to a secret compartment
where you kept
an extra key
for me

so up
the wooden stairs I ascended
with a key in my hand
in the front jacket pocket of
your uncle’s old windbreaker

so i sidestepped the mounds of birdshit and shovel
and i entered your place with no sign of struggle
called down your halls though no one was home
i could tell that you had just left
but I was alone

i climbed up the roof and
i sucked down a snoot and
it sparked a flame inside my brain
i started to view
you and me in the clouds
wandering through the crowds
of dragon, snakes, and poison lakes, and magical shrouds

If you’d spend some time
up in the clouds i’m sure you’d find
that the view
from rosa’s place is nice

hey but
she doesn’t have a brain for that
and she’s locked it in an air proof vat
and it can never ever see the sun
yet she shows it to everyone
no, it doesn’t add up
at least not to me
i guess its a difference
in our realities
